Pochampally Study Tour
Pochampally was selected as a field trip as it is considered as a hub of International cloth weaving and is popular globally for its geometric patterns in Ikkat style of dyeing. Here students got the first-hand experience of how the fabric is woven on traditional handlooms, which is more of a family affair, where the entire family contributes to the process. Moreover, the students also witnessed the tying and dyeing process of the woven cloth, Ikkat, a type of fabric weaving technique for sarees which is an extremely laborious process. It stands out because of its intricate and colourful design which looks similar from both the sides. The students got to study the hierarchy of architectural spaces in an artist’s village. Pochampally is no less an architectural marvel with 101 Darwaja House, a historical house with 101 doors & windows.
